eCall Day 2026

This year’s eCall Day will take place on 10 September 2026 in Brussels (Belgium) and is being organised as part of the X_HeERO project.

The conference will focus entirely on the Automatic Emergency Call System (the Europe-wide 112 eCall system). This year, participants will be given an overview of the current status and experiences with the NG-eCall upgrade. It is the ideal platform for discussing critical issues and proposed solutions, identifying specific topics to be addressed in the near future, and initiating sustainable collaboration within the eCall community in conjunction with the European Commission’s established instruments.

Background

The Europe-wide 112 eCall system has been in operation since 2018 and has recently been upgraded to the next generation of eCall (NG). The EU-funded X_HeERO project supports public safety answering points (PSAPs) across Europe in the transition from outdated circuit-switched 2G/3G networks to modern packet-switched 4G/5G eCall communication. Furthermore, X_HeERO addresses issues such as the extension of eCall to vulnerable road users and automated vehicles with specific requirements, as well as data integration between public safety answering points and third-party services. Finally, it outlines how collaboration on the further development of eCall will continue with a view to future improvements.
