Extension of testbed for connected and automated driving in Niedersachsen is a done deal – OECON is also on board!
The state of Niedersachsen and the Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) agreed on the extension of the “Testbed Niedersachsen” at the beginning of March 2017.
With the development of this testbed driver assistance systems and automated and connected driving can be tested on an overall distance of 280 kilometers.
The gradual extension of the testbed is supposed to be completed by the beginning of 2018. After the installation of the required infrastructure the testbed stretches from Wolfsburg, across Braunschweig, Salzgitter, Hildesheim to Hannover and includes the A39, A391, A7, A2 as well as several federal highways and rural roads.
The “Testbed Niedersachsen” will be an open research platform which can be used by industry and research partners for individual test- and research activities.
